Our Ergo Metro Plus Review
The Ergo Metro+ is suitable from birth to around four years old without any additional parts needing to be purchased, making it a good option for families with longevity as a high priority. It does however, come at the higher price point for travel strollers. It is cheaper than the popular YOYO2 and offers a lot in such a small package! The Metro+ is very easy to set up and comes ready to go, straight out of the box.

Overall, we scored the Ergo Metro + Compact highly giving it a 9/10 when comparing lots of different pushchairs; finding it having a big advantage over others as it is suitable for a newborn and beyond straight out of the box.
It’s a comfortable ride, easy to set up and compact and lightweight enough to easily fit in the car, on public transport and on the plane, but durable enough for everyday use.
Our Review
Our review is from using out and about as our daily stroller by a reader, Irina, a parent of one.
The Metro Plus does not need any setting up – it comes in the box, ready to go. Irina bought the black option, although you can purchase from a choice of seven different colour canopies to add a pop of colour to the pushchair.
The Ergobaby Metro+ comes with the plain canopy, frame, basket, wheels and rain cover. You can purchase additional coloured canopies, the footmuff and bumper bar separately. The deluxe edition comes with the bumper bar and cup holder.
If you have a newborn, then setting the newborn nest is easy to do, without any additional accessories needed. You move the footrest up to a vertical position and then open the sides to attach to the stroller.
The video below shows how easy this is. One thing to note is you can’t fold the metro Plus with the newborn nest, so you will need to pop that away first.

- Safety bar doesn’t come as standard, and you have to pay extra to get it which is not great given the price point of the stroller
- Outward facing only, which is not ideal especially for newborns (stroller marketed as suitable from birth)
- Basket is pretty small, can’t fit a diaper/changing bag

This is makes it on the heavier end for travel strollers with the YOYO2 lighter at 13lbs/6.2kg. The Metro Plus is slightly heavier than the Bugaboo Butterfly (16.09 lbs/7.3 kg) and UppaBaby Minu 16.8lbs/7.6kgs
The Metro+ does not have parent-facing mode.
Dimensions when folded are : 54 x 44 x 25cm/ 21.26 x 17.2″ x 9.84″ . In comparison, The Gb Pockit is L19 xW 33 x H48cm (7.5 x 13 x19″) and the Bugaboo Butterfly is 45 x 23 x 54 cm (17.72 x 9.06 x 21.26 “)
Folding and unfolding
The stroller is not one quite one hand fold, but almost and takes seconds to do. To unfold, you unlock the lock on the side of the pushchair and press the buttons on the handle.

Note there is no shoulder strap, but you can purchase a bag separately.
Recline and Comfort
The Metro + has a recline suitable from birth and also a comfortable upright position. For anything inbetween, there is a recline strap at the back, so the seat can be reclined in many positions.
Whether with a newborn using the newborn nest or toddler using it, they can lie fully flat.
We like the Cozigo bassinet and stroller UV cover and a portable fan for naps on the go on a sunny day and the breathable, mesh panel on the canopy.
The padded seat cover has extra padding and looks like our little one was comfortable.
Cobbled streets VS Ergo Metro+
It’s not an off-road stroller like any of the travel strollers but we surprised how will it did cope on cobblestones. The stroller feels sturdy and unlikely to tip.
Basket
Irina said she doesn’t like the size of the basket as it doesn’t really fit a bag in and is shallow, so a buggy clip or stroller hooks are easier for quick access.
Adjustable Handlebar
The handle is adjustable which is great news for parents! The handle looks like leather but isn’t, however it feels soft and durable.
Steering is easy one handed and the wheel lock meant we could easily navigate different terrains.
Car seats and other Accessories
The Metro+ is compatible with several car seats and you can purchase adaptors for your car seat. Those under the airplane icon are suitable and approved for aircraft use. For a full list of compatible car seats see here.

Good to know: Babies are advised not to be in a car seat for more than 2 hours at a time.
Final Thoughts
If you like the Metro+ but are still thinking about the YOYO2, readers that have used both have often leant towards the Metro+
The Metro+ offers a more upright position for those kiddos that like to sit upright and watch the world. The Metro’s recline is also better which is why it’s suitable for newborns from birth without any additional parts.
With the YOYO2 the additional newborn insert or bassinet would only last for a brief amount of time – til baby is around 5 months to 6 months old.
The Metro+ has an adjustable handle whereas the YOYO2 doesn’t. This can be a dealbreaker if you are partner are of a great height difference.
