Our Joolz Aer+ Review for Everyday and Travel

This stroller is a fairly new contender and meets so many of the must haves we needed for our everyday stroller. Taking it to Greece was really easy and we were so glad we bought it. I researched a lot of different pushchairs before we bought and my husband and I felt it was the best on the market to meet our needs. We were not disappointed!

I cover our experience of everyday ease of use, accessories and its size and weight to help you decide if it is also the right pushchair for you!

Our Review

Overall, we scored it highly giving it a 8.8/10 when comparing lots of different pushchairs; finding it compact and lightweight enough to easily fit in our car, on public transport and on the plane, but durable enough for everyday use. Its pretty much ready straight out of the box, with just a few adjustments needed to the wheels and any accessories you may have bought.

The buggy is suitable for children that can sit unaided, (usually after 6 months old, but in addition you can purchase the AER+ carrycot on the stroller and then it is suitable for newborns.)

If you purchase the carrycot (bassinet) for a bbay under 6 months, then you can actually unfold the stroller without having to detach the bassinet! It does make it to large for carry on baggage to bring on a plane, but you can still use the carry strap with it attached. I think this is the only stroller with bassinet that collapses like this!

The stroller comes with a useful shoulder strap and carry bag. If you are in the UK, a rain cover is also included. In comparison, it’s main competitor, the YOYO2 does not come with a rain cover.

We were really happy with the handling. It felt really smooth to push around. That said, we were mostly pushing it on smoother paths or inside. It did handle the odd stone pathway easily.

We also liked how stylish it looked, which isn’t the primary reason you buy a pram, but it is just an added bonus.

Another important note is that it is forward facing only.

Joolz Aer+ Measurements

It weighs in at a very light 13.4 lbs/6.07kg, only slightly heavier than the YOYO2, and when folded is L: 21 in x W: 17.7 in x H: 8.5 in/L 53.5 cm x W 45 cm, H21.5 cm- which meets a lot of airlines requirements as cabin baggage.

Folding and unfolding

This is so easy and is truly one handed for both folding and unfolding. It can be done one-handed whilst holding the baby which is so handy. You simply push two buttons together on the handle and it collapses / unfolds, even with accessories like the bumper bar attached.

The stroller can stand upright unaided once folded. We bought the additional footrest (around £25/$32) and it can still be folded with this attached.

Dimensions when folded are : L: 21 in x W: 17.7 in x H: 8.5 in/L 53.5 cm x W 45 cm, H21.5 cm. In comparison, the Gb Pockit is L19 xW 33 x H48cm (7.5 x 13 x19″) and the Bugaboo Butterfly is 45 x 23 x 54 cm (17.72 x 9.06 x 21.26 “)

Shoulder strap and bag

The stroller comes with a bag, but we didn’t bring it with us on our holiday/vacation to Greece. The strap was sufficient for the rare moments we needed to carry it, and it easily fitted into the plane overhead lockers.

Recline and Comfort

We found this was excellent and provided a comfortable place for many naps on the go. To recline, you need to unzip the back and then it lowers. It is a bit harder to put it back into seating position with baby inside it though.

Important to note: This stroller recline is different for the EU and UK market compared to the USA & Australia market. It does not recline as far for the USA and Australia markets. This video shows exactly what you can expect.

We did like the upright position option. Our baby was really happy in it and enjoyed looking around. My only gripe would be the break is harder to reach with the full recline. I would recommend buying the footrest to go with it for additional comfort.

The canopy hood is brillliant and offers a lot of coverage and sun protection. As you can see from our photo above, only his feet were sticking out. With the canopy extended, the black mesh part is revealed near the handle, offering increased air flow for hot days.

This was a big plus point for us and not having to worry about the sun being on him and also helped with providing a dark space for naps.
